Daily Gospel Reflection for April 14, 2021

Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: John 3:16-21

When I allow negative thoughts to rattle around within my mind too long, they have a way of tricking me into thinking that my sins are greater than my God. I'm left wondering what I could possibly offer to anyone, especially God, as I come so broken and unworthy. As those distorted thoughts dance around in my head, they make perfect sense, although they completely misrepresent the Truth. The longer I allow those thoughts to remain in the dark, the louder they become.

Over the years, I have learned that the best way to dispel the darkness is by bringing everything into the Light of Christ. It's like a scene from The Electric Company, a show that showed the spoken word literally coming out of the speaker's mouth. I like to envision my fear, doubts, and concerns floating through the air and into the Light as I speak them aloud to Jesus or with a trusted friend.

The Truth shines upon our thoughts, illuminating the blessing we truly are to our family, community, world, and, most importantly, our God! In light of this truth (pun intended), today's Gospel further illustrates how loved we are by God. He sent His only begotten Son that we may have eternal life! He sent the Light to dispel and overcome the darkness.

In the Light, our deeds are exposed, and yes, some of them are dark; but ultimately, we bring far more joy and offer glory to God. If you genuinely want to feel the weight of the darkness removed, speak your sins into the light of the confessional. Today's Gospel reminds me of how, through Jesus, I am loved; I have worth; and I can live in the Light!

Pray:

Jesus, You are indeed the Light of the World. Help me always to see the truth of my worth in Your amazing love. Amen.
