Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: John 17:1-11a

In this passage, Christ prays to His Father, just like we often do. His words are raw with emotion, with love, and with concern for His children on earth. But how often have we sat down with God and had a candid conversation with Him about what we have done for Him? Probably most of the time we are asking Him for something — whether that be for ourselves or for someone else.

Prayer comes in many forms, and while it’s important to remember our friends, our family, strangers, and even souls in Purgatory, one of the many types of prayers we should say daily is a prayer of adoration. We must reflect upon the blessings God has given us, thank Him for those blessings, and then tell Him how much we love him.

Just like parents melt when a child wraps his arms around them in a big hug and says, “I love you, Mommy,” or “I love you, Daddy,” so God longs for this type of closeness with us. He wants to hear that we love Him. God does so much for us, yet He asks so little in return. One of the greatest gifts we can give Him is to do all things for His glory. And that is what Christ was saying to Him.

Everything Christ did here on earth helped teach people to know, love, and serve God. We must do likewise. Actions do speak louder than words. How we act toward others defines the kind of person we are. And when we speak kindly, give of our time and talents, share what we have, treat others well, and talk proudly of our faith, we cannot help but glorify God.

Ponder:

What will you do today to glorify God?

Pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to keep You first and foremost in my thoughts so that all my actions and all my words glorify You and show You how much I adore You.
