Reflect on Jesus’ perseverance amidst rejection and learn how to steadfastly uphold faith and spread the Gospel message in your daily life and parenting.

Today's Gospel: Luke 4:14-22

I was surprised when reading this Gospel because I remembered how Jesus' teachings were rejected by those He'd known his whole life. He had to move His ministry from Nazareth to Galilee to find people willing to listen to Him.
But this scripture shows that He was praised in the beginning by friends and neighbors. This could be a foretelling of when He entered Jerusalem on a donkey to the shouts of "Hosanna!" These cries would change to "Crucify him!" within the week. Jesus faced many challenges in His ministry.

How Jesus loves us, to have gone through all that He did! He wants all of us to be saved. "I thirst," He said on the cross. (John 19:28)

How can we play a part in His plan for salvation, especially as parents? We can show our children how Jesus did not let criticism turn Him away from His mission on earth, but He moved steadfastly forward with our salvation always in mind. We can be vigilant so that we're not easily turned away from our faith.

This passage emphasizes the challenges of teaching the truth, which we see challenged every day in our world.

Ponder:

What can we do to preserve the Gospel and see that Jesus' message is heard?

Pray:

Lord, please help me to love others as Jesus loves us. Help me to recognize a lost soul as one that Our Lord covets.

Pray Together:

Invite someone to attend Mass with you.
