Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Mark 10:1-12

When I read today’s Gospel, one sentence jumped out at me:

“God made them male and female.”

This is a highly contested concept in today’s world. It is not our place to judge conflicted souls, but to have compassion, as Jesus does. One positive way to help is to say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, which includes this prayer: “For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

As mothers, we may face heartbreak over our children’s decisions, but to keep them in our lives, we must love them unconditionally and pray unceasingly.

When Jesus was on the cross for six excruciating hours, one of His last words was, “I thirst.” (John 19:28) His human nature was suffering from dehydration, but his divine nature thirsted for our souls--not just the souls of some of us, but all of us. Remember, He embraced and kissed the cross.

Also included in this Gospel is the topic of divorce. When Jesus came, many of the old laws of faith were overwritten by the New Covenant. Our society believes that if everyone is doing it, then it must be okay. No one wants to be judged or blocked from living any way they choose. This is not what God expects from us. This is not to say there are never reasons for separation; this is why the Church has its annulment process.

Let us stand strong as Catholic women and encourage others to live their lives according to Christ’s teachings. As always, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy can help us with this mission.

Ponder:

Can we work harder to see Jesus in others?

Pray:

Help me, Lord, to love each person as a soul yearning for You. Help me to have compassion and understanding.
