Reflect on how Jesus heals and restores us, and consider what aspects of your life need healing and restoration. Pray together as a family for God's healing touch.

Today's Gospel: Mark 3:1-6

Jesus went to the synagogue on the Sabbath on a mission: to challenge the Pharisees by healing someone on the Sabbath. At some point, He identified whom He was going to heal and decided on the man with the withered hand.
While we don't know what prompted Jesus to choose this particular man, it made me wonder why he was the one Jesus chose that day. And what prompted this man to go to the synagogue in the first place? Had he heard Jesus would be there, hoping he would be healed? Did anyone go with him? Why was he the chosen one commanded by Jesus to “‘Come up here before us”?

How often do we long for healing and ask God directly to heal us? Alternatively, how often are we the ones who have lived so long in pain and suffered silently, yet internally have the desire to be healed? For some, it might seem just too far-fetched that God could hear the prayers we hold deep within our hearts. But is it really too far-fetched?
In truth, it’s not that far-fetched at all. God is here, all around us, healing the sick and saving lives each and every day. It just may not be as obvious as it was for the man with the withered hand.

“He said to the man with the withered hand, ‘Come up here before us.’”

Sometimes, all God wants us to do is to come before Him, stretch out our hand, and allow Him to heal and restore us. Will you let Him heal and restore you?

Ponder:

What aspect of your life needs healing or restoration?

Pray:

Heavenly Father, help me to come to You when I need healing and restoration.

Pray Together:

Before going to bed tonight, talk as a family about what each of you might need to be healed. From skinned knees to hurt feelings, an ailing relative, or something held within the heart, pray together as a family for God’s healing.
