Today's Gospel: Mark 6:53-56
As we read the fifth and sixth chapters of Mark, we get a sense that Jesus got around. He was on a mission. Crossing the sea here, multiplying loaves and fish there. Freeing the demonic here, and healing the woman with the hemorrhage there.
There’s another thing that got around, and that is the testimony of what Jesus had done. The healing of the woman with the hemorrhage seems like just another miracle, but this miracle got people’s attention.
When the people heard that Jesus had arrived in Gennesaret, they brought out their sick, even those in the surrounding country, and laid them around town, hoping Jesus would pass by so they might touch the tassel on his cloak. Why? Because when they heard that the woman was healed by touching the tassel, their faith grew and they believed that if Jesus did it before, He could do it again.
It sure is easy to share a time-saving hack or a great new recipe, but how often do we share our testimonies of what Jesus has done for us?
All of those people lying in the marketplaces were all healed by touching Jesus’ tassels. They had the faith to reach out because of the testimony of one woman.
When we share our testimony, we are saying, “Lord, do it again.” The declaration of our testimony makes present the same power and authority that was in our midst when we originally experienced God’s presence.
Just imagine all the miracles that are waiting to happen if we would only speak out and declare the goodness of God.
Ponder:
Notice that the Scripture tells us the people immediately recognized Jesus and then scurried about to bring the sick to Him. What would your first action be?
Pray:
Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit that not only gives me power, but enables me to be Your witness. Help me tell others of the amazing things You have done in my life, knowing that, when I do, You want to do it again.
