Today's Gospel: Mark 9:38-40

Today’s Gospel reading, though short, packs a rather large message for all of us to remember as we go about our daily lives. Not all our friends are Catholic, believe what the Church teaches, or agree with everything we believe. However, those who spread the message of Jesus but do not believe the Catholic Church are still a part of us in the body of Christ. They are loved by our Lord as we are loved. As found in Lumen Gentium, the teachings of Jesus, passed on by others not in complete union with Christ’s Church, still have the truth within them. Non-Catholic Christians are still our friends.

A few years ago, a fellow quilting friend invited me to her women’s prayer group at a Protestant church. I had my doubts but finally attended one of their meetings. They have since accepted me as their token Catholic and sister in Christ. Together we pray, cry, praise, and celebrate answered prayers each time we meet and at other times, too. I do not accept all their beliefs, as they do not accept all of mine, but we share Christ with each other. We are for each other. I am thankful for this group of Christian women.

Ponder:

As women in this crazy world, we need each other. Have you found a place to connect with other Christian women? Do you have a place where you can share and pray with others?

Pray:

Dear Father in Heaven, help me to see Your Son in others and see them as You see them. Guide my heart when I speak with others and share my faith with them. I ask this in Our Lord Jesus Christ's name.
