Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.
Today's Gospel: Luke 11:14-23
It is true. Satan and his demons are stronger than we are. Being pure spirits, they can too easily deceive us and convince us that what is bad is good and what is good is bad. Jesus called Satan “a murderer from the beginning” and “the father of lies” (cf. John 8:44). Even fully armed, we may not be able to defeat him.
Unless, of course, we “put on the armor of God so that (we) may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). Jesus is the strong man who protects us. With him, we have truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and, greatest of all, the Spirit on our side.
Satan is powerful, but God can cast him out with His little finger. Demons are merely creatures, subject, even in their fallen state, to obey the Creator. All Jesus has to do is tell them where to go.
Satan may pursue us, but he has no hold on us (cf. CCC, 2853). So, if you are experiencing difficulties, trials, or temptations, call on the Name of Jesus. Pray the Lord’s prayer. Put on your armor and go fight.
Ponder:
“If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31b)
Pray:
Jesus, occupy my heart so that all I do shows forth Your goodness; occupy my mind that my thoughts may always turn to You; occupy my strength so that I may never tire of serving You; occupy my soul and be the very core of my existence.
