Today's Gospel: Luke 24:35-48
Immediately after appearing to the disciples on the road to Emmaus, Jesus once again appears to them in Jerusalem, taking great pains to show the disciples that He is, in fact, the risen Christ, come to them in the flesh. Jesus shows the disciples his wounds, even asks for a meal, and still, He must open the scriptures for them. Jesus must remind them of the prophecies of His coming and show them that He is fulfilling each one.
Like the disciples intent on their mission, I'm sometimes so focused on my mission to do the things I ought to do as wife, mother, and homemaker, that I fail to see all the times Jesus is present to me throughout my day. The disciples had Him in the flesh, standing among them. I must rely on faith alone.
Ponder:
How often do you move throughout your day, intent upon the minutiae that fills it, without giving a thought to our Lord? Pause at some point in this busy-ness that fills our lives, and give thanks to the Lord for your blessings.
Pray:
Lord, console my troubled heart, filled as it is with details and tasks. I trust in You and Your mercy.
