Today's Gospel: John 14:15-21

After reading and meditating on this Gospel, it revealed to me that it is about the Holy Trinity. At first glance, it seems to be about Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to us after He has left, but I also saw a beautiful tapestry being woven. Jesus asks the Father, Who will then give us the Advocate, Who will be with us always. Jesus does not send the Advocate on His own, but includes the Father, making it a three-way action.

I will admit that it was not until recently that I came to understand that the Holy Spirit is given to us at baptism, and He stays with us throughout our lives. I also recently learned that confirmation is a sealing of the Holy Spirit, from us to Him, not the Holy Spirit coming back again. I am a cradle Catholic, and many of these amazing truths of our faith are slowly being revealed to me now. I have been attending many Bible studies and have been learning so much. I am not sure how many of us are out there, but I know I was not taught much during my Catholic school years. I learned the motions of being a Catholic, but not the substance. I feel like I missed a lot of years of knowing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I am so grateful that I have the Holy Spirit within me, because it is from Him that I have felt the pull/desire to learn and get to know the Father and Son. It is this beautiful tapestry that my faith has woven in me that brings me to where I am today. We are not orphans, especially if we see the Holy Trinity working in our lives.

Ponder:

When do you feel the pull of the Holy Spirit, and do you see the woven tapestry of the Holy Trinity in your life?

Pray:

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, please weave within me Your great gifts of faith, grace, and love, so that I might better know You and observe Your will for me.
