Today's Gospel: John 3:16-18

Do you know that God loves you? Like, truly loves YOU as the unique individual He created you to be? I think many of us know this intellectually, but we don’t necessarily internalize it into our hearts. I know I haven't. Have you ever taken the time to really, sincerely ponder His love for you specifically?

God created you and me and everyone in the world out of love. It’s not a factory situation, churning new people out and stamping each one as approved by God. We’re not loved as a group of nameless people - not at all! God is a craftsman, spending time to create us, one by one. He knows us better than we know ourselves. And He loves us, even with our faults, our sins, and our eccentricities.

I don’t know about you, but I need to spend more time contemplating this reality. It’s not enough to know it in our heads; it must be a heart-felt belief. That deep-seated belief in God, feeling His love in our hearts, leads us to belief in His Son. Today’s Gospel uses “believe” four times. Must be important!

It all starts with belief. Believe in God, in His love for you. Believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, Whom He sent because He loves us, He loves you. Even if you were the only person on earth needing redemption, God would still have sent His Son to die on the cross for you. God does not want to condemn you for your sins. He wants you to believe in His Son, love Him, and turn from sin because of that belief. Believe and repent. It starts with believing.

Ponder:

Have you spent time contemplating God’s love for you alone?

Pray:

Thank You, God, for creating me out of Your love, for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem me, and for the Holy Spirit to guide me on this journey.
