Reflection by Lisa Connor

Today's Gospel: Matthew 6:24-34

Mothers often worry about their children. When they are babies, we worry about milestones and safety. As they move through school environments, we worry about friendships, successes, and mental health. Our concerns never really fade. They morph into different variations throughout our children’s lives and into adulthood.

The remedy? Trust.

We must trust. We can allow fear of failure or unknowns to rule our thoughts, but this ignores the fact that God promises to provide all that we need.

For many moms, it is easier to seek control than it is to trust. We need grace. Grace that allows our children and ourselves to live the unique life that God designed.

Fear feeds worry and control. Trust breeds a life full of grace. It is a daily choice: worry or trust, control or confident faith. You cannot serve two masters. Choose wisely and with eyes directed to God. It will change you.

Trust steers our days to glory, a life lived with fearless joy. Trust delivers peace and provides light in darkness. We know this world needs peace and light. Why not be part of the solution?

Ponder:

Do I let fear control my actions or can I intentionally reflect on what I am faced with and trust God to guide and protect me?

Pray:

Heavenly Father, help me live joyously and fearlessly by trusting You always.
