Reflect on the healing power of faith as Jesus performs miracles in our lives. Discover how to recognize and share these blessings daily.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 8:1-4

Until this point in Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus has been a rabbi, a teacher, preaching the beautiful Sermon on the Mount for the last three chapters. But here in Chapter 8 comes a leper, who was probably among Jesus’s listeners sitting on the mountainside, hiding his disease. Jesus's words were so powerful that the leper just knew that if Jesus willed it, He could make the man clean.

Now, Jesus had not cured anyone so far. There had been no miracles. Yet, somehow, the unclean man knew that Jesus could heal him. Indeed, Jesus did. The man’s faith in Jesus led to his being made whole and welcomed back into the community. From this point to the resurrection and beyond, miracles abound.

Jesus wills to heal us, to feed us, to give us life, and make us whole. We need only to ask and believe.  And when Jesus does answer our prayers, we ought to share our joy with others. Tell our stories. Let people know all the good the Lord has done for us. Then they, too, might ask and believe and their prayers be answered. On and on, the miracles abound!

Just as miracles happen throughout the Gospels, miracles happen throughout our lives – big and little. We must be present for them. We have to learn to see them and be open to them. Have faith that Jesus wills to do the miraculous for us and thank Him when He does.

Ponder:

What miracle has Jesus worked in your life?

Pray:

Blessed be you, Lord Jesus, for the many miracles and answered prayers You have showered upon me. With every blessing You pour out, may I turn back to praise.

Pray Together:

Be on the lookout for miracles and answered prayers, and when you see one, give God the glory by sharing the story.
