Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 10:7-15

Jesus has been teaching His disciples about the Kingdom of Heaven, showing them daily who God is and how He loves them. And now, He’s asking them to go out and begin to share this message with others.

I think I know how they felt in that moment because it’s the way I often felt when my children were young. “Am I actually equipped to do this? What if I mess it up?”

Just as the disciples went without supplies, as parents, we often feel like we don’t have much to help us get the Faith across to our kids. We might feel like we’re fumbling our way through the whole thing. Like the disciples, we won’t know the results on this side of heaven.

I’m sure there were towns that rejected the disciples and their preaching, and I’ll bet some of those towns became centers of belief later. Many of us have children who are grown and have fallen away from the Church. But as long as they live, that story is not finished. Plant the seeds. Do your best to water and care for them while you can, then let God handle it. He won’t forget you or your child.

Ponder:

What lesson can I learn from the disciples’ commissioning?

Pray:

Lord, You know that sometimes I feel inadequate for the task of imparting the Faith. Help me remember that I am only planting the seeds, and You will help them grow in your time.
