Reflect on humility and service in today's Gospel. Discover how to lead by example and cultivate a heart that serves God and others selflessly.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 23:1-12

This passage always prompts self-reflection within me. As a parent, I question whether my actions have aligned with the teachings of Jesus and the Church that my husband and I have worked to instill in our children. Am I an example that my children can follow? Have I allowed my work, my phone, praise for good I have done, or my own personal status to be my master? Or has it been clear to my children that our Father in Heaven is the one I follow and Who guides my every decision?

The world is busy and loud, and with technology and social media within arm's reach, a world of knowledge is accessible to us. And while there are good things that can come from those things, it is also a distraction. This passage calls for believers to be humble and selfless, motivated by a desire to serve God rather than for personal status or praise. The world, with its far-reaching influence on our lives, can pull us away from the life God is calling us to live.
This passage serves as a reminder that we are called to be holy, humble servants, and to follow and be motivated to serve our Father in heaven. It teaches us that those who seek self-importance will be brought low by God, but those who humble themselves will be lifted.

Ponder:

Have I been a servant to those around me, or have I expected others to serve me?

Pray:

Dear Lord, please help shape my heart into a humble heart. Ensure that I am motivated to do good because it is pleasing to You and for no other reason.

Pray Together:

Map out a way to serve others in your community as a family.
