Today's Gospel: John 1:45-51
An invitation, an attitude, and nurturing guidance . . . It’s called love.
So much of today’s Gospel models our lives as mothers. Whether we have toddlers, teenagers, grown children, or any age in between, we never cease to invite our children to be whom they are called to be.
Like Nathaniel in today’s Gospel, our children often have attitudes, thinking they “know,” but they often have a warped sense of reality.
God has placed mothers in their lives to gently remind and thoughtfully guide them to Him. In doing this, we give ourselves to God’s service and play a role in His plan for our children.
We are not God, but we are His help. We are not the Creator, but the hands, heart, and voice on earth. It is a great honor and responsibility to be a mother. The kingdom of God is much bigger than us, but we mothers are needed.
Not everyone has a mother available. We are called to help not only our own children, but all children, including some lost souls that the world considers adults because of legal age. We must embrace our role to invite, manage attitudes, and ultimately guide others to Him.
If you want to change the world, start by embracing motherhood. Identify whom may need a mother. Invite them to do good. Turn their attitudes to good. Guide them to His ultimate good and their path to heaven. It is an honor.
Ponder:
Do I truly understand and embrace the great responsibility of motherhood and act intentionally to be the hands, heart, and voice of God to others?
Pray:
Lord, help me to identify my role in the world to be a welcoming force for mentoring Your good in others.
