Daily Gospel Reflection for September 24, 2026

Today's Gospel: Luke 9:7-9

Like Herod, do you ever ask, who is Jesus? Do you know the answer? Do you know how your children see Jesus — who He is to them?

In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus is referred to as “the carpenter’s son,” a nod to his foster father, Saint Joseph. Yet, Jesus is also the Son of God — one of the three Persons of the Holy Trinity — our Savior, Redeemer, Prince of Peace, and so many other magnificent titles.

The Rosary teaches us a great deal about who Christ is and helps us grow in understanding His divine identity. It begins with the Apostles’ Creed, proclaiming our belief in Jesus as God’s only begotten Son, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified, died, and risen again. Through the Mysteries of the Rosary, we hold in our hands what Pope Paul VI called “the Gospel on a string.”

Each set of Mysteries reveals another facet of the unfathomable love of God found in the Incarnation of His Son, Jesus Christ.

*Joyful Mysteries, we encounter His birth and glimpses of His life within the Holy Family.
*Luminous Mysteries, we reflect on His public ministry — His miracles, teachings, and the institution of the Eucharist.
*Sorrowful Mysteries, we witness His sacrificial love, humility, and mercy — His willingness to suffer for our redemption and salvation.
*Glorious Mysteries, we celebrate His Resurrection and Ascension, as well as the exalted role of His holy Mother, whom He lovingly gives to us as our Mother from the cross.

With every recitation of the Rosary, we come to know Jesus more deeply — His purpose, His love, and His reflection of the Father’s heart. In Him, God’s love is fully revealed: “he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”

Ponder:

Contemplate what you know about Jesus. Consider what more you would like to know. 

Pray:

Lord Jesus, open our hearts to know You more deeply and to see You as You truly are — our Savior, Redeemer, and Friend. May our family grow in love for You through prayer, especially as we meditate on Your life in the Holy Rosary.

Pray Together:

Choose at least four days this month to pray the Rosary together as a family — one day for each set of Mysteries: Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious. After each Mystery, take a moment to share one new thing you discovered about Jesus, or something that deepened and confirmed what you already believed about Him. Watch how, through prayer and reflection, your family grows closer to Christ and to one another.
