Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 18:1-5, 10

Jesus brought a child in front of His disciples and advised them to humble themselves like a child and to receive children as they would receive Him. Furthermore, He said,

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”

It’s an appropriate reading for the Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels. How often do you think about your guardian angel?

My mom loved this feast day, partly because she and my dad were married on this day back in 1965. Today would’ve been their 60th wedding anniversary. My mom believed in the powerful protection of our guardian angels, so much so that she made each of her grandchildren a pillow with the famous image of a guardian angel protecting two children as they cross over a bridge. She taught me to say the guardian angel prayer from a young age, and I now wear that prayer engraved in Italian on a pendant I wear almost every day.

When did you last ask your children’s guardian angel to stay close to them? When is the last time you thanked your guardian angel for watching over you? It’s important not only to humble ourselves like children, but also to thank our guardian angels for watching over us and for standing in heaven and looking upon the face of the Father for us.

Ponder:

How has your guardian angel been working in your life lately? Don’t forget to say thank you!

Pray:

Lord, thank You for the gift of my guardian angel, who reminds me to be humble like a child.
