Reflection by Connie Beckman
Today's Gospel: Luke 6:12-16
"Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God." Luke: 6:12
Before naming His disciples, Jesus spent the night praying to His heavenly Father. Throughout His ministry, Jesus prayed to His Father.
I believe Jesus gave us an amazing example to follow when making decisions big and small. When we are faced with making a decision, do we just try and figure it out ourselves, or do we go to our Father and ask Him to help us make good choices?
It is interesting that Jesus always seemed to go to the mountain or a deserted place to pray. It was probably very quiet and peaceful. We each have to find that quiet place to pray, especially when making big decisions. As you quiet yourself, you can begin to place all your racing thoughts and fears in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
When facing a decision, I like to go to our Adoration chapel, where it is very quiet. Journaling in the quiet draws me into the presence of Jesus. In the quiet, I become peaceful. When our minds and heart are at peace, the answers seem to come more easily.
Ponder:
Where is your quiet place to pray?
Pray:
Heavenly Father, help me to spend time in quiet prayer so I can hear Your voice guiding me, loving me, and filling me with Your peace.
