Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: John 6:37-40

When our time in this world ends, we will see God face to face. At that moment, we will see ourselves as we truly are. Most of us will then realize that we are not ready to enter into God’s glory.

So, it is off to Purgatory, where attachments will be detached, and imperfections will be purified into perfections. This purging will cause suffering to our souls, but it is only temporary.

Do not fear, though. We will see God, the source of all our joy and happiness, again. Jesus promises in today’s reading that,

"Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me.” John 6:37

Thus, we need to come to Jesus every morning, offering our day to Him. We should come to Him during the Divine Mercy hour to intercede for ourselves and others. At the end of our day, we come to Him to give praise and ask forgiveness. When troubled, we come to Jesus for help. When blessed, we come in thanksgiving. We come to Jesus at every Mass, and He comes to us in every Holy Communion.

Jesus so desires us that He came down from heaven to show us how to live.

“I came down from Heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me." John 6:38

We are here for the same reason. And Jesus sends us every grace we need to do God’s will, which is that we be sanctified (cf. 1 Thessalonians 4:3).

Truly, this life is all about the next. Let us, then, cooperate with the Holy Spirit in our sanctification, so that when we see God face to face, we will be ready!

Ponder:

What imperfection, attachment, or sin do I struggle with that I need to ask Jesus' help to overcome?

Pray:

Eternal rest grant to the Holy Souls in purgatory, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, especially those souls I knew in this life.
