Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 20:27-40

As I child, I remember having a fear of dying. Even though others assured me that I could attain Heaven, I had this fear of separation. What will happen afterward? I remember revealing this to my dad, and he comforted me saying, “We won’t know till we’re there, but maybe God has a bigger plan.” These words gave me comfort because I knew that God was going to take care of us. It reassured me that death was not the end. As I read today’s Gospel, I’m reminded that death is not the end, only the beginning. In our limited minds, we try to rationalize death, just like the Sadducees did. “Whose wife will that woman be?”

Jesus points out that those in the coming age (those with our Father) "can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise.” After our earthly life, God will reveal much to us in our eternal life. Death is not an ending but just the beginning, and the rules of living are different than those of our earthly time. Our needs and wants will not be the same. As we reflect on these words today, let us continually remember that the struggles of our present situation are only temporary, even our grief. And God’s plan will be greater than we can humanly imagine.

Ponder:

How can I strive, today, to trust in God’s eternal plan?

Pray:

Lord, help me to trust in Your plan for my eternal life. Even in my limited knowledge, help me to always come to You as a child and never doubt Your love.
