Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 21:12-19

The Coming Persecution warning of today's Gospel has the unnerving placement between the Signs of the End and the Great Tribulation.

Listening to some news outlets and social media would have us ready to stand on a corner with a sandwich board announcing “The End is Nigh!”

Perhaps. Perhaps not. Remember we are also told we will not know the day nor the hour (Matthew 24:36). Let us take heart and take to our hearts the message of today's Gospel: We will suffer for our faith.

The Word is alive in every era, and so, today we witness the persecution of the faithful in our society.

We witness the assault on the family. On children. On clergy and other religious. On values. And yes, on individuals. In many instances, we witness actual violence and even death.

While the message is a strong one, it is not laden with despair. On the contrary, it ends with hope. It gives us the encouragement that when we persevere in our faith, we will be rewarded with life, eternal life with the Father.

Ponder:

Can you identify one action in your day that helps build your perseverance?

Pray:

Lord, thank You for the gift of faith. Give us the grace to run our race to the end.
