Today's Gospel: Luke 10:21-24

In this passage, Jesus reveals that He and the Father are one in the Holy Spirit. We get a glimpse of the Holy Trinity and how the three divine persons are united in only one God. We cannot understand this mystery of the faith since we have the intelligence of a creature, but, one day, if we have the grace of being in Heaven, we will be able to experience union with God.

Jesus also gives praise to the Father, Who in His wisdom revealed the treasures of the Kingdom to the childlike, but not to the ones who see themselves as wise and important. The only way to be saved and be able to spend eternity in Heaven is if we are humble and simple as children. The narrow door to paradise is low, so we have to lower ourselves to enter, giving up all self-will in order to do only what brings joy to the Father.

Jesus tells the disciples that they are blessed because they were eyewitnesses to the Messiah, our Redeemer. As Catholics, we are privileged because we were baptized and are members of the Body of Christ, His Church. Even though we didn't see Jesus with our eyes, we can be one flesh with Him when we receive His body, blood, soul and divinity in the Holy Eucharist.

Ponder:

Do I acknowledge the immense grace of the Eucharist? How can I improve my preparation to receive our Lord in communion?

Pray:

Dear Mother of God, help me to always receive Jesus with a loving heart and a pure soul, so His presence within me can make me grow in holiness, one communion at a time.
