Luke 1:30 This Gospel is one of those that feeds my soul with something new each time I read it! Everything we need to know about being good disciples can be found in this passage. For years, I was in awe of Mary and this event and when I finished reading, I would put my Bible aside and sigh, thinking, “I could never be like Mary.” Truth. No kidding. God doesn’t expect me to! I’m Sheri, not Mary. Once I began to realize it was okay that I was completely unequipped and uncalled to be the mother of God, I began searching this Gospel for pieces of action the Father was inviting me to take. I began to imagine God looking in my eyes and telling me He found favor with me! That line became my “marching orders.” One of my lines in morning prayer is “Jesus, help me do things today Your Father would find favor with." The second thing this Gospel reminds me of is our call to serve others. Mary had just had the most unbelievable moment of her life. One we simply can’t even imagine. And Gabriel follows it with a task. It’s almost as if he thought, "Great, you said yes, you just conceived the Son of Man by the power of the Holy Spirit. Now, moving on . . . your cousin Elizabeth is expecting and she is old, so she needs help. Please take care of her." In our human nature, we probably would have wanted to linger there and revel in our personal holiness and our favor from God, but Mary picked up to serve and love and remain humble. Lord, help me work on that part!   #### Ponder:   What are the everyday things God is inviting you to do with trust, humility and love? It is in doing those things we find ourselves in His favor, so make a list.   #### Pray: Dear Jesus, help me grow in trust and obedience like Your mother, Mary. Help me see Your love shining through my flaws and weaknesses.
