Greetings from the airport in Las Vegas, where I await my first of three flights to Rome. For those who haven't yet heard, I am headed to the Vatican to attend the Beatification of Blessed Pope John Paul II and a special Vatican Bloggers Meeting on Monday at the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. If I weren't so exhausted from the crazy week I've had, I'd be jumping out of my skin with nerves and excitement. As it is, I am looking forward to three flights today to catch up on some rest!

I hope to share as much of this experience with you as possible through the blog , through my Facebook account, and over at Twitter. I hope my friends in those social networking venues will feel as though you are coming along on this trip with me through the photos and videos I share.

This trip is the opportunity of a lifetime. I have the odd sensation that it is somewhat "anointed" since all of my planning fell into place so smoothly in such a short time. I owe a huge det of gratitude to Ave Maria Press and Bayard Publishing for their wonderful generosity with grants to partially fund my travel, and also to a devoted reader of the blog and CM supporter who made a generous donation to support my trip as well. Additionally, Lisa Wheeler at The Maximus Group had been an invaluable help in aiding me with logistics.

It's almost time to jump on my first plane, so I'll sign off for now. Thank you all for your prayers, your support, and your friendship. I carry your love and your prayer intentions with me on this amazing pilgrimage to honor our beloved Blessed John Paul II.
