Identifying Evil: Who's Your Daddy?

Who is evil? Are Christians who say and do horrendous things in the name of God evil? Are homosexuals evil? What about Muslims, Islam, Blacks, Whites, Mexicans, the government, terrorists, etc. etc.

I do not think we can attribute the title of evil to a person, religion, government or group of people. I know who and what is evil and I know who he uses to carry out his plan of destruction. I know our battle is not with flesh and blood but with the spirits of good and evil who battle for our very souls.

Satan , the Father of Lies, the destroyer, who comes as a thief only to steal and kill, he is evil and he uses us to do his dirty work because he cannot perform without us. He fills our lives with confusion and pain and doubt so we will curse God when things are not going according to our plans.

We as human beings were created in the image and likeness of God, not Lucifer. The battle was won through Jesus but Satan would have us believe otherwise. We claim we love. We profess we want peace. Yet we are all capable of allowing the very seeds of evil into our lives and out of our mouths that prove we do not know how to truly love. We can show the ugly side of anger and hatred. Whose children do we represent when we act like this? Yes, Satan is alive and well and enjoying every moment he has us caught in his web of prejudice, hatred, murder of the unborn, holding signs that spew hatred, and attacking peaceful demonstrators. Here we represent the very best the father of lies has to offer us. While we follow the path of worldly opinion and popular accepted fads of behavior we fall into the trap of destroying relationships, pointing accusing fingers at “the other side”, and using hatred and hostility as our banner of truth and justice. HA! The world needs an “enemy” and that seed was planted so conniving by Satan himself into our empty minds.
Our minds are empty because they are devoid of the truth. Jesus said,” I am the way, the truth, and the light.” Jesus showed us by word and by action, how to live our lives and live them abundantly. We need to write his words in our hearts, refreshed daily in our minds and spoken aloud in times of trial to rebuke Satan and his cronies. None of us are perfect and in fact ALL of us fall short of the grace of God. We would be eternally damned if it were not for the precious blood of Jesus who saw something good in us but also saw how lost, weak and vulnerable we were to the wiles of Satan and the temptation to think we could live apart from our Creator. He made the ultimate sacrifice to deliver us from every form of evil and oppression of body and spirit.

Are we walking in that victory? A person, who walks in victory, walks in joy and in peace. Look at your brother and see him through the eyes of Jesus. We are called to love one another, not to hate. We are children of the Most High King! How powerful and wonderful is that? Even though we fall, Jesus is always there to pick us up and show us the way again.

So I ask you to choose, who’s your daddy? For by your fruit (your actions) you will be known.

But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Collosians:3:8-10

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians3:12-14
