After many years of discerning  the beautiful Consecration to Jesus through Mary – and I must confess after more than a few false starts -- I am finally prepared to complete it.  Although I do have the paperback version of St. Louis de Montefort’s , “Total Consecration”, I’ve decided that I’d probably be more successful with an electronic version --particularly one that reminds me every day to complete my readings.

ConsecCover

While there are other Consecration apps available, including NetBrainer LLC’s Consecration to Mary that I reviewed here last summer, I preferred the My Consecration app by HyperDo Media by a narrow margin.

My tipping points were:

  1. The ease of navigation, which I felt lacked in the other applications;
  2. The notification option – love that daily pop-up reminder!

In addition, My Consecration app offered wonderful website and Facebook pages, which offered more information, resources (including print materials), and support.

According to the website, the My Consecration app is brought to you by the My Consecration Apostolate. This Apostolate

“was formed by an alliance of Catholic apostolates with a very strong devotion to our Blessed Mother and the Rosary.  They share a common concern for the saving of souls and strengthening of the Catholic Church through the Total Consecration to Jesus Though Mary.  Our alliance, composed of the World Apostolate of Fatima USA (WAF USA), Lighthouse Catholic Media, St. Joseph Communication, Stewardship: A Mission of Faith and Children of the Father Foundation, was founded by Anthony Mullen who also founded the Children of the Father Foundation.”

Still not sure if this devotion is for you?  Consider this snippet from the website from a section discussing the support of past and present Popes for the practice of consecrating oneself to Jesus through Mary:

Below is an excerpt from Pope John Paul II’s book, Crossing the Threshold of Hope:

“At first, it had seemed to me that I should distance myself a bit from the Marian devotion of my childhood in order to focus more on Christ. Thanks to St Louis de Montfort, I came to understand that true devotion to the Mother of God is actually Christocentric; indeed, it is very profoundly rooted in the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, and the mysteries of the Incarnation and Redemption.”

Pope John Paul II’s proclamation, “Totus Tuus” (“I am completely yours, O Mary”) is the motto he chose for his papacy.

My personal tipping point to pursue the consecration now came after being offered an incredible opportunity to join a Pilgrimage from Fatima to Avila, March 22- 31, 2014! This amazing opportunities to present talks in these holy places on spiritual powerhouses such as:  St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, Blessed Jacinta and Francisco, and Servant of God Lucia Santos, called for a true devotion to Jesus though His Most Blessed Mother, Mary.
