Today's Gospel: Mark 8:22-26

Do you ever feel blind in your daily life? Do you feel the monotony of daily life get to you as you run the kids to school and activities, cook, work, clean, do laundry, and pay bills? In that humdrum routine it can be very difficult to see God at work in our lives. Today’s reading focuses on the healing of a man who was physically blind, but it reminded me of how blind I can be to God in my vocation.

Americans are very busy people. We are always running from one thing to another. One way to “see clearly” is to thank God throughout the day. Create an attitude of gratitude. While folding laundry thank God for the clothes that so many do not own. When doing dishes, thank God for the food that was on those plates. When the children are yelling at one another, stop and thank God for the children He has so lovingly entrusted to you.

Throughout Scripture, Jesus Christ gives thanks to the Father. Whenever He breaks bread, He gives thanks. He is teaching us to be thankful for all that the Father gives us. In order to live fuller lives we must be able to appreciate all that we have in our daily lives. Do I see God, as I go about my daily tasks? Do I truly see my daughter when she is being difficult or am I blind to God in her and the blessing she is for me? In being grateful, we will discover that our blindness is healed.

Ponder:

Are there areas of my life where I lack gratitude? What are my blessings? Count them.

Pray:

Pray: Lord, help me to see you in all things in my life. Help me to fight ingratitude so that I may be open to You in my life. Give sight to me in the areas of my life where I am blind.
