This year's Lawn Chair Catechism is set to start next week. And if I got any more excited, I'd burst.
For one thing, there's the book we're using:
It's one that a good friend of mine has been raving about for months and hey, here's my reason to really read it! A Well-Built Faith: A Catholic's Guide to Knowing and Sharing What We Believe, by Joe Paprocki, is nothing less than a must-read from what I can tell of it:
Teaching the Catholic faith can be quite a challenge if you lack an adequate understanding of the Catholic faith yourself. And given the fact that the Catechism of the Catholic Church is over 900 pages in length, it's no wonder that Catholics struggle to comprehend their faith.
A Well-Built Faith—creatively developed around a construction theme—makes it easy for Catholics to know what they believe and to feel confident in sharing those beliefs. This 18-chapter book by master teacher Joe Paprocki follows the structure of the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer), making it a wonderful resource for learning about and teaching the Catholic faith. Highly informative and very fun at the same time, A Well-Built Faith is a must-have tool for developing the Catholic faith.
For another thing, we have Joe!
Author, catechist, and awesome speaker Joe Paprocki is going to be involved with our study. He's agreed to do four videos, introducing each of the four sections of the book.
I was impressed enough about that, but when I jokingly emailed Joe and mentioned that I'd love a shot of him in a lawn chair holding the book, he sent me these images (which I then had to play with):
We're going to have fuuuuuun this summer, guys. Can you feel the excitement?
What we're doing this summer:
Every Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. Pacific / 9 a.m. Eastern (and whatever time that makes it where you are), I'll post the discussion post. We're using the the leader’s guide for questions, though I'm sure I'll have my own thoughts as well. You can leave comments or link from your site.
