Today's Gospel: Luke 11:27-28

Today’s Gospel is special to me because at first when I read it the mother in me wants Jesus to say, “Yes, Mary is blessed.”  However, as I think about it I realize Jesus is looking at the Big Picture.  He is telling us that each of us can be blessed if we listen to God’s word and observe it.  Jesus’ advice is some of the best advice.  He wants each of us to be blessed by God and he knows the way to be blessed is through listening to the word of God and observing it.  

Ponder:

Do I pay attention during Mass when God’s word is being shared?  

Do I take his message to heart and live it out daily?

Pray:

Dear Lord,

Please open my heart to receive God’s word and to observe it.  It is not enough that I should know your word but that I should implement it in my life.  Help me to live my life according to your word so that I may join you in the Kingdom of Heaven.  In your name, Amen.
