In preparation of Lent, I spent some time online looking for new ways to celebrate this, my favorite time of year. Yes, I used “celebrate” and “favorite” in the same sentence as Lent! There is such joy in practicing the disciplines of fasting, almsgiving and prayer – yes, joy! I can already detect a slight amelioration in my spiritual life!

While this fabulous column is available all year long (see quote below as to why); my family follows this discipline only during Lent. Though the more time I spend looking at these delicious options, the more I am considering observing this practice year-round.
Friday should be in each week something of what Lent is in the entire year. I am not exactly sure how I discovered Blessed Is She – I will go with the Holy Spirit – I am just glad I did. There can never be enough support for women on their Catholic faith journey. I have enjoyed the regional Facebook Community and the Twitter chats.
