Christmas is right around the corner. I'm still not ready. Part of me wishes Advent were as long as Lent, because I'd have more time to get everything done, or so I'd have more time to prepare.

This past week, we celebrated Gaudete Sunday by setting up our tree and lining the driveway with luminaries. It's a big week. Two of our kids were in a show. Our daughter came home from college. My son is signed up to run a five-mile race. Add in Christmas shopping, cleaning house, planning a birthday party and a driver's test and the ordinary stuff of every day, and you'd think I'd be stressing out. I would be, I know it. Except, I did one other thing this week. We went to adoration. Every day, I spent five, ten, fifteen, sometimes thirty or sixty minutes with Jesus. I know the stress of the week bounced off because I'd given myself time with Him first.

So I know I still need to start the wrapping, finish the shopping, organize the rooms, clean and take on all the errands to finish off the school year. But I also know the purpose of this season is to be still. The purpose of Advent is to "Oh Come Let us Adore Him." Have a great week and Christmas. See you in 2016, for more Small Successes!
