Whether you got your flu shot or your stock of essential oils, it's almost inevitable that at one point or another this winter, your kids are going to get sick.
My boys had RSV for three weeks before Christmas and picked up some mutant strain of a cold over the holidays. We're going on five weeks of sick kids, and I am about done with flu season for this year, thank you very much.
A few weeks back, I had the realization that I always feel like I have to do something to fix whatever is wrong. But sometimes the best thing I can do to fix whatever is going on is to hand it over to God and let Him take charge.
Since then, I've noticed myself bumbling and barging a lot less and picking up my Rosary and Bible a whole lot more. I like to think I'm a good mom, and I do what I can, but at the end of the day, God can do a much better job at healing my kids than I ever could.
Of course, God calls us to do our part. So today, after the Tylenol, antihistamines, diffuser, and deluge of fluids into my poor sickos, I opened up my prayer books as they napped, and found these:
For the Health of a Child:
Holy Mother, health of the sick and constant aid of those who pray to you, please speak with me to your Divine Son. He showed Himself loving and merciful in healing the afflictions of the body, as well as those of the soul. Pray with me, then, that my child may regain full health and bodily vigor; and, with strength restored through your assistance, may they become more deeply aware of the goodness of God and understand better your all-embracing motherhood-- and so glorify God and honor you by holiness of life and service of others.

Blessing of a Sick Child:
N., when you were baptized, you were marked with the cross of Jesus. I make this cross + on your forehead and ask the Lord to bless you and restore you to health. Amen.
Prayer for a Sick Child
God of Love, ever caring, ever strong, stand by us in our time of need. Watch over your child N. who is sick, look after them in every danger, and grant them your healing and peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
I've learned that few things are worse for a mom than seeing her babies sick. As we've been battling colds and cases of flu, it's been comforting to know that God wants my children to return to full health just as much as I do. So I'll commend them to the Divine Physician and keep on keeping on.What are some of your favorite prayers when your children are ill?
