

“Listen to my voice; then I will be your God and you shall be my people.” (Jeremiah 7:23-28; emphasis mine) “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” (Psalm 95; emphasis mine)Learning to hear God’s voice in today’s noise is a struggle for me. My deafness may be due in part to the cacophony of the world. Social media, news, entertainment all play a factor in keeping me from hearing God’s voice in my life. The other part is laziness. I don’t take the time to listen. I pray, I mutter to myself, I shake my fists at the heavens and I stamp my feet demanding to be heard, yet when it comes to listening to God, I appear to be deaf. My heart does feel hardened.
