"Seeing the good on bad days" by Anne DeSantis (CatholicMom.com) Image credit: Pixabay.com (2014), CC0/PD[/caption] Looking at social media can be a good thing, but I need to watch myself. As one who battles staying positive, it is critical to keep my mind and heart on “the good.” Today, I observed a Facebook post on a political view gone sour. It’s disheartening to see people being aggressive to prove any type of point, whether it be political or personal. Once those interactions become divisive, it may be time to re-evaluate. You see, justice is a vital part of following God’s ways and doing right. We are called to pray for justice and peace. But when politics become nothing more than nit-picking each another and focusing on the negative, it damages this battle for positivity. It is then that I must ignore the post and move on. I believe that God truly does want us to see the positive in our days, at the same time praying for goodness in the world and acting on it. It is our job to make the world a better place by lifting our prayers, offering a smile, and helping the hurting. Instead of using social media to create negativity, use it to spread love and joy.

Prayer

Lord, help me to ignore the negativity of life when it is shown to me. Help me to pray instead. Help me to see the pain in the hearts of the lonely, the unloved, and those who are marginalized. Help me to pray for the negative hearts of those who choose to point fingers and accuse rather than realize that conversion is a personal journey. Jesus, we need you each day to guide us on the right path!
