Jena Muhr reviews Sabine du Mesnil's new picture book of short stories about the Blessed Mother.

The book Confide in Mary: Our Mother in Heaven by Sabine du Mesnil is a thoughtfully written and beautifully illustrated book full of short stories following Mother Mary and her relationship with Jesus. The book follows the traditional timeline of Mary from the Annunciation to Assumption. It then dives into “The Little Marian Way” and “Devotion to Mary.”

This book would make a beautiful gift for a girl receiving her first Reconciliation or Holy Communion. I was able to read this book with my 6-year-old daughter, who liked the pictures and the simplicity of the verse. It is not a learning-to-read-book but the phrases are simple and the message of Mary is clear. Our favorite part was the discussion of saints dedicated to Mary and the apparitions of Mary. This provided a launching point for further discussion and a chance for my daughter and me to share in our faith.
