Anne DeSantis examines the blessings amid the trials of 2020 and ponders how to carry them forward into the new year.
Perceptions of 2020
If we step back and take a look at 2020, there were many blessings for all of us. Yes, there were challenging times, and devastation for so many and our prayers go out to all, but the closeness we have gained in family-time is amazing to ponder.
Of course, there have been many tragedies and sad points, but in the end God has drawn us close to himself. This is a gift from Him.
2021 Here We Come
As Catholics, we must never forget the time is a gift given to us by our Lord. And as mothers, watching our families grow and having the opportunity to spend time with them is a gift that we were given in 2020.
With that said, we can take what we have learned from this past year, and going forward into 2021, we can take the slowness of life that we have been given and use it for the good going into the future.
Takeaways from 2020
Our prayers must always go out to those who are suffering and to the sick, but being at home more often has been a blessing for many that modern families have not been able to appreciate as much as those from times before us.
Perhaps when we reflect upon families of 50 years ago and before, we know that the hustle and bustle of the day was not as much a part of their lives.
Spending time at home and in conversation with our kids and our families is so important in the growth of our spiritual lives. God is always in every single part of our lives at all times.
I know that I will go forward in 2021 and reflect upon how God has taught me so many great lessons about spending time with those who are closest to me.
I wish the same for all of you!
Let us go forth in 2021 and learn from the quality time that we have been able to spend with our families and take it forth into this coming year!
God bless you always, from my family to yours!
