Anne DeSantis encourages families to pray together during the month of July, dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus.

Catholic litanies are special prayers to be prayed with a goal of growing closer to the Lord and to his will for us. Our Church has a host of litanies which can be prayed on specific days of the weeks, during liturgical season. They can also be prayed during months dedicated to a particular charism of Jesus, His Mother, a saint, or another aspect of our faith. In the month of July, the Precious Blood of Jesus is honored in a distinct way. The Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus is a beautiful prayer to honor the Lord.

The Litany of the Precious Blood

If you have never prayed the Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Christ, pray this prayer, and make it a point to pray it in the month of July as it is dedicated to the Lord’s precious blood. The litany speaks of “consolation of the dying” and “the pledge of eternal life” and more. These words bring consolation to those who suffer, those who long to for the Lord, and those who are nearing the end of their lives. Christ himself consoles those who experience all the pains of life by offering himself as a gift. His precious blood is a solace to all who love Him both now and forever.

Praying the Litany as a Family

Praying this special litany during the month of July is a wonderful way to grow closer to the Lord in recognition of the gift of His most precious blood, which is meant to bring peace to our hearts and to our families. The “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” prays for and with us as we meditate on the beautiful words of the Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Christ.

Teach your children about this prayer and how every year during the month of July we can remember the sacrifice of Our Lord. We also offer prayers for those in purgatory, and for all souls who have gone before us through the blood of Christ. Let us never forget His great love, which will never end.
