Join us as we pray the Rosary this month for pregnant mothers. Today, Alexis Dallara-Marsh ponders the Third Glorious Mystery.

The writers of Catholic Mom enthusiastically gathered to share meditations on each Mystery of the Rosary in a special way for pregnant mothers. We invite you to join us throughout the month of May as we pray together each day, and to share these reflections with other moms who will enjoy them.

Today we will pray the Third Glorious Mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit.

God's greatest gift to a mother is that of her child. In Spanish, I was taught the phrase "dar la luz," or "to give light," when a mother delivers her child into the world. This image of having a light within me, the child in my womb, is also a great visual for life in the Spirit. As Jesus is the Light of the World, we share in His glorious Light when we are with child. What joy!

Just as the strong gush of wind blew into the Upper Room—His breath of fresh life—we must continue boldly sharing Christ's love with others. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) notes that parents have responsibility to bear witness and educate their child in the virtues of Christ from as early an age as they are able (733). The CCC also defines the Holy Spirit as "God's love poured into our hearts" its fruits being "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control" (736).

We mothers are called to share the gifts of the Spirit with our own children, our flesh and blood! We are not called to exist in solitude, but in unity with each other through family, forever serving each other with tenderness and fidelity (2223). Through the Holy Spirit, we hold an everlasting exchange in our souls of God's divine mercy and love.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

This May, pray a #Rosary for pregnant mothers with us! #CatholicMom
