Charlene Rack turns to the Bible for inspiration and encouragement for our second month of Lent, sharing her gold mine of discoveries with you.
So far we’ve survived and done well during February, right? But we still have a long way to go until Easter.
We get so bombarded with Lenten meditation books, conferences, and other resources that we sometimes forget about turning to Scripture, our most reliable source of God’s Word.
Below you’ll find several Bible quotations, all of them with the theme of drawing near to God. I hope they will encourage you as much as they did me. I printed these verses out and will place them in our Marian home shrine for renewed focus during Lent.
The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him, he hears their cry and saves them. (Psalm 145:18-19)
Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. (James 4:8a)
Let us approach with a sincere heart and in absolute trust, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed in pure water. (Hebrews 10:22)
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. (Philippians 4:6)
As for me, to be near God is my good, to make the Lord God my refuge. (Psalm 73:28a)
When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me. (Jeremiah 29:13-14a)
