Jim Phalan, C.S.C., discuss the month of May, dedicated to Mary, and our celebration of Mother's Day.* --- This month of May is typically one that's devoted to Mary, but we also celebrate Mother's Day, and I see a lot of overlap. Check out my conversation with Fr. Jim Phalan, C.S.C., about the message about Mary's perfect example of receptivity to the will of God and her self-giving love: a message for every mom. Fr. Jim notes, "Moms, when you're just giving yourself away, my mom taught this to me. She showed me her love just by living it. We can see that it makes sense, then, right after we're celebrating the Resurrection, Mary is the one who shows us how this is real in her own life. Moms, you show your children how new life is love incarnate. Mary shows us how to make the grace of the Resurrection part of our lives."   > [  > >   > >   > > > > > >   > >   > > View this post on Instagram > > > >   > >   > >   > >   > > > >   > >   > > > >   > >   > >   > > > > > >   > >   > > > > ](https://www.instagram.com/tv/Ccp-pdeAVns/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading) > > [A post shared by CatholicMom.com (@catholicmomcommunity)](https://www.instagram.com/tv/Ccp-pdeAVns/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading) > [Click to tweet: > It's not by accident that the Easter season includes the month of Mary, and in the month of Mary we have Mother's Day. #catholicmom](https://ctt.ac/U52i4) ##### Resources mentioned in this episode: VIDEO: Bishop Robert Barron, [The May Magnificat](https://youtu.be/pAPM7Q8X0mI)   ![Our Lady of Providence statue crowned for May](https://www.catholicmom.com/hs-fs/hubfs/20220430%20DBean%202.jpg?width=1080&name=20220430%20DBean%202.jpg)   --- Copyright 2022 Danielle Bean Images: (top) Canva Pro; bottom copyright 2009 Holy Cross Family Ministries, all rights reserved ### Share this article [![Share on Facebook](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/facebook-24x24.png)](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2Fthe-month-of-may-mary-and-mothers-day%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dfacebook) [![Share on Twitter](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/twitter-24x24.png)](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2Fthe-month-of-may-mary-and-mothers-day%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2Fthe-month-of-may-mary-and-mothers-day%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&source=tweetbutton&text=The%20Month%20of%20May%2C%20Mary%2C%20and%20Mother%27s%20Day) [![Share on Email](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/email-24x24.png)](mailto:?subject=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2Fthe-month-of-may-mary-and-mothers-day%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail%20&body=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2Fthe-month-of-may-mary-and-mothers-day%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail) ** #### About the Author ![Danielle Bean](https://www.catholicmom.com/hubfs/_catholicmom/Contriubutors/DANIELLE%20BEAN.png) ### [Danielle Bean](https://www.catholicmom.com/articles/author/danielle-bean) Danielle Bean is an author, speaker, and podcaster.
