The Month of May, Mary, and Mother's Day

Danielle Bean talks with Fr. Jim Phalan, C.S.C., discuss the month of May, dedicated to Mary, and our celebration of Mother's Day.

This month of May is typically one that's devoted to Mary, but we also celebrate Mother's Day, and I see a lot of overlap. Check out my conversation with Fr. Jim Phalan, C.S.C., about the message about Mary's perfect example of receptivity to the will of God and her self-giving love: a message for every mom.

Fr. Jim notes, "Moms, when you're just giving yourself away, my mom taught this to me. She showed me her love just by living it. We can see that it makes sense, then, right after we're celebrating the Resurrection, Mary is the one who shows us how this is real in her own life. Moms, you show your children how new life is love incarnate. Mary shows us how to make the grace of the Resurrection part of our lives."
