VIDEO: Ellen Mongan introduces Who Do You Say I Am?, a documentary that blends science and faith.

Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” (John 20:29)

My husband Deacon Pat and our son Sean were having a discussion about science's place in our faith. I piped in with, “What does science have to do with our faith?” I should have known better than to question my husband (a physician) and my son (a medical physicist). I do not remember all that was said but I do remember this part: “Some people need God to prove to them that He exists. Science proves the existence of God.” The answer made me realize that the gift of faith is a treasure that all are not given, and some need proof to believe.

To those who have real faith, nothing can talk them out of it. To those who do not have faith, it seems nothing can talk them into it. Before our discussion, I assented to that quote. However, as I listened to these two men of faith speak, my heart was changed. The Catholic faith is one of faith and reason working together. Let’s face it: some hearts cry out, "If you are real, God, prove it to me." God is ever ready to do just that, and He uses words and deeds.

When Jesus walked this earth, He performed many miracles and gave countless sermons to prove to the people that He was the Son of God. Jesus still performs miracles. He still speaks to us through His Word, through sermons, and even through a documentary.

This is the case in the documentary, Who Do You Say I Am? One of the reasons that Bill Snyder desired to make this documentary was to let God use it to open the eyes of those who cannot see, to help them see with the eyes of faith. “This documentary is where science and faith meet." Please watch the podcast video below and find out more about the documentary and how you can get a copy. The documentary is impressive and has changed hearts. Do not take my word for it: watch and see for yourself. At the end of the podcast, Bill gives details about how you can purchase a copy. Be sure to buy one for your parish. This is a wonderful way to evangelize!

On the Deacon and Dear podcast, Bill shares how his documentary came about. In Bill's witty and wise way, he tells the story of how God called him to begin Patchwork Heart Ministry. You may know his co-host, Anne DeSantis, who is also a writer for Catholic Mom.

Bill invites all to come and “see!” After viewing this documentary ask yourself, “Who do you say Jesus is?" God used twelve men and the Blessed Mother to change the world through His grace. What will you let Him do with you?
