Today's Gospel: Mark 6:53-56 - St. Agatha When Jesus arrived in Gennesaret with his disciples, the people gathered around Him, hoping to get close enough to touch His cloak. When they did, they were healed of their afflictions. I recall the Roman official who sought Jesus to heal his servant, a man whose faith encourages me when I pray at Mass, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” Our sinfulness makes us shy before the Lord, yet our hope is powerful, and we can set aside our fears to reach out to Him. Let us not be afraid. The Lord wants to heal our brokenness. We can begin simply, by praying, “Jesus, I trust in you.” I often pray this throughout my day, whether I am encountering a nuisance such as a traffic jam that makes me late, or a serious concern about family or friends. Each instance is an opportunity for healing, to reduce anxiety, or console. The Lord’s mercy is abundant – let us live in hope.

Can you identify an area in your life that needs healing? Reach out to the Lord with trust and hope, like the people of Gennesaret, and ask for healing.

Dear Lord, thank You for Your loving mercy.
