Today's Gospel: Mark 12:38-44 - 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
"All she had, her whole livelihood." This story focuses specifically on the poor widow's money, but I can't help but reflect on that phrase "her whole livelihood". I have my God-given dream job - a full-time editor position at a good Catholic publisher, close to my family, in a city with a vibrant Catholic population. Yet on so many days, I am distracted, unfocused, complaining about tiny things, slothful. Christ honors the widow's gift of "all she had". I should give Him not just a financial tithe, but every moment of my day, every action of my work, every aspect of my life. Isn't He the one Who gave me everything, to begin with?
