Today's Gospel: Mark 3:1-6 In today's Gospel, while others were watching to see if He would heal on the Sabbath, Jesus calls a man with a shriveled hand forward. "Stand up in front of everyone". The Pharisees and Herodians were plotting against Jesus, and here was an individual called to the forefront to take a stand, imperfections and all. There are friends and family members who will disagree and seem eager to create alliances. We can feel put on the spot, forced to take a stand. Baring ourselves and our feelings to others is uncomfortable. Even more challenging can be the call to stand up in front of ourselves. To gaze into the mirror, to acknowledge and own our flaws is difficult. Yet it is the only way we can truly decide who we are being called to be, to understand the way to discipleship. There will be stubborn hearts awaiting us. May we be graced with the courage to stand up to them.

Ponder:

What are you least likely to reveal to yourself or others?

Pray:

May we always be graced with strength to stand up before others and with others to follow You, Lord. Continue to heal us on our journey.
