Today's Gospel: John 2:13-22 - Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome There was disarray everywhere: Toys on the floor, kids strewn out with their own agendas, dishes on the counter, laundry to do. And I. Just. Lost. It. It was a momtrum of massive proportions, one that would make me both wince and chuckle now. I can’t help but look at Jesus in today’s Gospel and feel something akin to, “Yeah. Me too, buddy, me too.” Jesus shows us, here, that anger is not always a sin. His method may not be appropriate for us, mind you (though the whip of cords and the overturning of tables has a satisfactory air to it). He guides us, as usual, to our priorities. Zeal is defined as “great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or objective.” You may have a short-term goal -- a clean house, dishes done, getting out the door on time -- but Jesus reminds us that we all have the same long-term goal: raising saints and getting those we love to heaven. Let’s refocus our energy and offer today for that end, with Jesus’ help.

Ponder:

What’s your passion? Where’s your focus? How can you let God guide them to help those you love closer to heaven?

Pray:

Jesus, let my zeal be for Your house, for Your will. Guide me so that my passions are rooted in You.
