Reflection by Colleen O'Dowd
Today's Gospel: Luke 14:1-6
A mentor of mine says in all days and times “God is doing a mighty work of healing, restoring, and reconciling all things to Himself.” All the times – good and bad. Looking at life and this story through that lens changes how I see my own path and where God is on that path.
God is really only about one thing – bringing me home. He desires and delights in me uniquely. And you. And that other person I don’t like.
And since God is about the business of bringing me home – He doesn’t mess around. And neither does Jesus.
Jesus knows how I work. He always starts at the beginning. With my outermost needs. To build my trust – that I might invite Him in deeper. Most of the time these outermost needs are physical. Jesus almost always feeds or heals before he does anything else, so that I will let Him in close enough to do the real work – accompanying me towards healing, restoration, and reconciliation with God.
Ponder:
What is it that I need Jesus to notice and heal in me today?
Pray:
What is it that I need Jesus to notice and heal in me today?
