Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.
Today's Gospel: Mark 16:15-18
This is the great commission Jesus gave His disciples: “Go into the whole world.” Jesus spent three concentrated years teaching, training, and, above all, showing twelve very different men how to be disciples.
Dr. Kevin Leman, a psychologist, tells a story about dropping his daughter off at college. Later in the week, he received a call from her. He had a burning question to ask. “So, Holly, what were you thinking about when Mom and I said goodbye?” Without skipping a beat, she answered, “You and Mom taught me what to do, and now it is my turn to do it.”
Our children are our first disciples. We teach, form, and become examples of Christ’s love daily. This is how we pass our faith down to the next generation. We may drop them off at college and say our goodbyes one day. It will be their turn to follow our example. How well-equipped will they be?
As we instruct our children, God is teaching us. God has called us, His disciples, to “Go into the whole world.” It may take three years or a lifetime. We may even fall off our “high horse” and be converted instantly, just as St. Paul was.
Ponder:
What will you tell the world about Jesus and the Kingdom of God?
Pray:
Dear Jesus, thank You for instructing us so we can teach our children how to follow You. May we lead them in faith and form them in virtue so they can tell the world about Jesus.
