Daily reflections on how Jesus calls ordinary people to extraordinary missions, emphasizing the impact of family faith in fostering vocations to married and consecrated life.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 4:12-23

“Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Jesus didn’t wait for perfect people in holy places. He started His mission in ordinary Galilee, calling fishermen with rough hands and simple lives. He meets us exactly where we are—in school drop-off lines, messy kitchens, and tired evenings—and invites us into something extraordinary.

My own call to priesthood began in the ordinary rhythm of my family’s faith: the daily Rosary, frequent Eucharist, and my parents’ gentle encouragement to be open to God’s plan. Their faithful example, along with the witness of religious in our family (52 vocations and counting!), built a foundation where I could hear God’s voice.

Dear parents, your faith matters more than you know. When you pray together, bring your children to Mass, or simply talk about God’s love, you are creating a space where they can hear Jesus whisper, “Come, follow me.” You don’t need to be perfect—just faithful. Your ordinary, loving witness is the soil where vocations to married life as well as the consecrated life are fostered.

Ponder:

What “nets” (worries, distractions) keep me from fully trusting Jesus with my family? How can I foster an attitude of openness to God’s call in my children’s hearts?

Pray:

Jesus, You call ordinary people to extraordinary missions. Thank You for the gift of my family. Bless all parents as they guide their children to hear Your voice.

Pray Together:

Pray one decade of the Rosary together, offering it for vocations to married life as well as the consecrated life in your family and the Church.
