Today's Gospel: Mark 9:14-29
“This kind can only come out through prayer.” Matthew 9:29
It is the end of this Gospel passage that offers so much comfort and hope!
We might see ourselves in the father who is admonished for his unbelief by the Lord. But notice how quickly Jesus pivots – to mercy and action once the father pleads, “I do believe, help my unbelief!"
As mothers, we often find ourselves at our wits’ end with worry over our children. It is seemingly impossible NOT to worry, especially as they get older, and the struggles are not necessarily ones we can help them with as we could when they were children.
But Jesus shows us here, again, the power of prayer. When we take the time to sit, trust, and pray, we grow in confidence that the Lord can – and will - provide. The Lord, when we allow Him to, will lift the veil of our unbelief and help us grow in confidence in His eternal love.
Ponder:
When have I been consumed with worry or anxiety?
Pray:
Lord, help me to have the discipline to sit each day in silence with You in prayer. Help me to surrender all my worries, fears, and concerns to You. Help me to fully embrace Your words to St. Faustina, “Jesus, I trust in You.”
